Bioinformatics and Translational Research

Generating evidence, sharing knowledge, and protecting health need innovation

The Bioinformatics and Translational Research (BTR) team is dedicated to advancing bioinformatics methods for health research. Our main goal is the development of novel genome-based solutions and analytical methods. By combining our research with powerful sequencing technologies, we seek optimized approaches to answer complex scientific questions in the field of public health.

We are one team of the Genome Competence Center (MF1) at the Robert Koch Institut in Berlin. At RKI, our team is not just about pioneering technological advances; we’re about fostering an environment where innovation thrives, supporting our colleagues and the wider research community with tailored wet lab and computational methods. We are doing this as part of a great unit, together with other teams that focus on sequencing, digitalisation, genomic epidemiology, virus bioinformatics and the integration of genomic and epidemiological data. Through collaboration and dedication we aim to contribute significantly to the future of bioinformatics in public health research.
